The Soul
A lone and alone and lonely
the night wind calls to me.
Pulling me away from my reality
to a place that is quiet and free.
Have you no arms to comfort you?
The wind would whisper to me.
Have you no soul that understands
the waves that trouble your sea?
A child begins life unknowing
what twists of the road he will take.
And as he grows he comes closer
to the home he has left behind.
Come back, come back, call the angels.
Your time spent here is done.
Return to the souls who love you.
Return to the home of the sun.
One taste of bitter sweet elexir
and the soul begins to fly.
Set free from the bonds and the shakles.
Set free to soar through the sky.
Away, away to the brightest day
Away from the cares of this world.
Slip, slip, slipping away
goes a soul too weary to stay.
Pity the tears of an unborn child
who cries for the life he will lead.
Or even more so, for the tears of a soul
who has lived and has need to leave.
